Too funny

4.26.2010

I'm in the Provo Library, and I thought it noteworthy to mention that a guy in the row of computers in front of me just fell over backwards in his chair. Baha! He was about my age, laughing at himself, and turning way red, so I didn't feel bad laughing at/with him like everyone else was doing.

:D

I'll write again tomorrow with a Chad update. He's doing well :)

Starting Line

4.24.2010

Hey there peops.

Well, it's officially begun, and the countdown begins. Metaphorically speaking. I'm not going to count the days until there's a month left I think. To catch everyone up, Chad left yesterday on a study abroad for his major. He'll be in Cairo, Egypt until August 3, at which point we will be joyously reunited. I'm actually glad that it's finally begun. It was horrible just waiting around, watching as April 23 loomed nearer and nearer, having ever more frequent mini heart attacks and building tissue-mountains on the floor by our bed at night. Now, we're finally in it, checking off the days and getting it done. I feel way more like AA member than I thought I would. "One day at time."

I get kind of scatter-brained with big changes. This morning I misplaced a piece of bread and later found it on a stack of papers on the desk. Cool. Later, I came to campus to use a computer, but found all the labs closed. So, I walked to the Provo library to use their crappy computers and realized that the Harold B. Lee Library on campus always has an open computer lab (when the library's open anyway, and it definitely is). So smart. So, I trekked back up to campus and now sit in an HBLL lab, writing up this post.

Yesterday was hard. I filled up my time painting the living room. I was literally on my feet from 10am until about 10:30pm painting and cleaning up (with a dinner break in there somewhere). At first, I really didn't like the new color. It was much darker than I thought it was going to be, and I began to despair at the first brushstroke, just sure that even when it dried, it was going to be the ultra bright and saturated blue that then marked the wall. But, this morning, I was pleasantly surprised (ok, ecstatic) to see that it had fully cured and dried in the night to a much tamer and quieter blue :)

(Do you like our giant, dinosaur heater? I'll tell  you what; that thing gets the job done.)

Doesn't it look so good?! I am quite happy to no longer live in a masking tape-yellow dungeon. I love the light and airy feel of the living room now, after giving those dingy, gross walls a little TLC.Well, a lot of TLC.

Anyways. Hope you're all doing well. I'll be back from time to time with Chad updates, me updates, and ...you know, whatever.

A quick hello

4.09.2010

This background is so smarmy. Isn't it great? I kind of love it. Don't worry. I'll probably change it soon anyway.

So. Sorry for the lack of anything interesting on here lately. Updates:
1 I chopped my hair again, and... almost immediately regretted it. I should have listened to Rachel. D'oh. But, I cried for a day, and got over it. And it'll be nice for the dig this summer not to have to deal with hair.
2 Chad's leaving in two weeks from today!!! Ack :(
3 Wrote an 8 page paper yesterday and was actually physically sore from sitting for so long. Brillian eh?.
4 Put a passwordy-type thing on the blog. Sorry if that's annoying. Mostly so that I can say whatever I want and not have to worry about creeps seeing any of it. I mean, I don't really want it floating around on the net that I'm going to be living by myself for three months, you know? I'm already paranoid enough, and this is a pretty good outlet. Plus, now you guys can feel like you're part of a supercool supersecret club. Lucky you!

I hope everyone's enjoying this glorious weather!! It is absolutely beautiful in Provo today. And actually, I kind of feel this weird self-entitlement to the gorgeous weather. Seeing as how winter JUST WOULDN'T DIE this year.

Speaking of Provo, did anyone notice that weird smell around town this morning? It reminded me of summer vacations with the fam in Rockport, TX. That thick, beachy, kind of sour smell... only without the salt. And then as I approached the south stairs up to campus, it dawned on me as I watched the seagulls wheeling about noisily overhead... the seagulls!! Maybe? Maybe half of that beachy smell from my childhood that I absolutely adore is gross seagull smell. (Don't get me wrong; I love seagulls. But I don't exactly go around smelling seagulls.) I'm glad they're back. It's such a quirky thing, to have seagulls in Utah. It's actually one of my favorite things about being here. Second only to the mountains and parks.

Anyways, just a thought.
