Congratulations Alex!!

2.28.2011

So my little brother Alex got his mission call on Thursday. You'll never in a million years guess where he's going. I still remember how stunned he sounded on the phone, and how stunned everyone was for a while afterwords :) haha

He's serving in the Hungary Budapest mission!!! Speaking Magyar! How AWESOME is THAT??!? Way dang awesome, that's how.

Listen to this language. It's amazing. Obviously, I don't know what's going on in this news broadcast, but that's beyond the point:

I am SO excited for him! He reports to the Provo MTC (which incidentally is close enough to walk to from our apartment :) on May 4th. We're hoping he'll be able to come and spend a little time with us before he goes. That would be cool.

Oh man. I was absolutely giddy for a couple days after he opened his letter :) We're all so excited for him, and so proud of him, and my Mom's happy enough with the fact that he's not going to Africa or somewhere she's heard terrifying stories about. '"It's not Washington state," but it'll do.' Haha. Oh Mom :)

So a bunch of pictures of Budapest for your viewing pleasure. All credits to Google Images. Beyond that, I didn't put in the effort of documentation.

Gorgeous no? Oh man :) Of course, this is all the Budapest right on the Danube, so this is the tourist version of Budapest. The photos of the communist block apartments and etc. that Hungarians might be more familiar with are harder to come by via travel websites. But still, it's beautiful.

Wahoo!!!! Congrats to my little bro :)

Chad's had a birthday

2.27.2011

Shout hooray!

This is extremely late, but Chad had a birthday! On February 5. Obviously, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Sadly, we were much busier on Chad's birthday than we were on mine. Poor boy was so stressed over school work it was hard to take time off in the evening to have his birthday. But we did, and we had a great time :)

Shrimp BLTs. The boy knows how to have a birthday.

Tell me these brownies are not gorgeous. Walnut brownies with caramel swirlies on top.

Chad only asked for "The Great War for Civilisation" (which has one of the coolest/saddest cover pictures of all his books), but I surprised him with Inception too :) That was fun.

We didn't have any normal candles, so we used half of 'congrats!' instead :) hehe

We ate shrimp BLTs, opened presents, and had glorious walnut/caramel brownies while we watched Inception. It was pretty great. Chad loves his book, and we both love the movie. Win win.

So Happy Birthday Husband! xoxo

Guess what?

We're having a baby :)

Surprise!

Our little peanut was 9 weeks and 3 days along when we had this sonogram. We're now about 13 1/2 weeks on, and have a 13 week pic of the baby (who has now graduated to "bumpkin"), but I haven't scanned it yet. Soon!

:D
