Christmas in October, November, and barely December

12.01.2011

Chad and I sort of got a jump on Christmas this year. In October, he gave me my first Christmas present:

I have been dying for one of these for a looooong time. And now, it sits proudly next to my side of the bed. Best nightstand evvvver.

Then on the Sunday we did our Thanksgiving dinner, after we ate Chad told me he couldn't wait on this next one any longer. And I'm SO GLAD HE DIDN'T!! Mom, Dad, and Erin, you guys'll understand how ridiculously ecstatic I was that this was mine. Like, to own. And I can watch it as many times as I want for the rest of my life.

"5 Disc Special Edition"
WOOHOOOO!!!!

Sigh. My heart still does little flutters. Am I the epitome of nerd? Yes. Yes I am. But so is Chad and that's why we love each other.

So, the story behind why this was so awesome: I wanted to be a photographer and a marine biologist for a looooong time. I was basically devastated when I learned that BYU didn't have a marine biology program, but I went to Provo anyway because I knew that was where I was supposed to be. Anyway, Chad knows this about me (and there's much more nerdliness to it than I described above, but that's way too much awesomeness for one post) and so he got me as close as I can get: 392 minutes of glorious oceanic experience.

And then tonight, we got a knock on the door. It was one of our upstairs neighbors with a little box in his hand. I sat on the couch as he told Chad that they found this box on their doorstep, and they opened it, and it had this "watch thing" inside (first of all, "watch thing"? What other thing is going to come in a Timex box besides a watch? Goober.) but on closer inspection, the address was ours. So Chad saw me slap my forehead, and--grinning--told our nice neighbor that the box was indeed ours. Chad closed the door, I threw up my arms with a "Merry Christmas!" and then went and wrapped the watch so he could open it tonight. And then it turned out that neither of us really liked the watch in person (online shopping; so fickle sometimes) and we're going to pick out a different one anyway.

Sheesh :)

Christmas is so much better when it's three months long.

We have a tree too! For the first time! And we may or may not have put it up and decorated it and everything a couple weeks before Thanksgiving...

don't worry, he wasn't chewing on it.

Emmett definitely did not like getting a faceful of fake pine needles

Recognize that ornament Mom? Guess what. It's my favorite one on the tree!

Terrible picture, but you get the gist.

Hooray for Christmas! We love this time of year :)

PS. This. Rocks. Is it a little weird that I can tell you that this thing could double for a Humboldt squid? Do I even need to ask that?
