Things of Note
2.17.2012
1. Emmett rolled from his back to his stomach a week ago! (It was the 9th or 10th of Feb, can't remember) The first time he did it, I missed it! I had finished changing his diaper and left him on his back on his bedroom floor while I went and washed my hands, and when I came back to get him, he was on his stomach! It was awesome. He's done it lots since, and now he rolls like a champ. Seriously. I can hardly keep him on his back to change a diaper, get him dressed, etc.
2. Emmett had his first ride in a shopping cart today :) I think it kind of freaked him out, but he really liked it. He was hanging on to the rod in front of him (which we cleaned) reeeeally tight :)
3. He's way close to crawling. He's been getting up on his hands and knees for a while now, and rocking on them for a couple of weeks. Today I caught him scooting his knees forward and halfway crawling.
4. One of our awesome neighbors left cookies on our doorstep. Lemon-glazed even! Whoever it was, they know that the key to my heart is covered in lemon-glaze. Wish I knew who it was so I could get the recipe.
5. We were walking home from Smith's the other day, talking about something I can't remember. Anyway, the notable part went like this:
Chad: "That's a good idea."
Me: "Nah. I'm just jawin'."
Chad (totally serious): "Who's John?"
I haven't laughed so hard in a while.
6. I was doing dishes tonight and listening to my iPod. Chad came up and I put one of the buds in his ear as a Simon and Garfunkel song was finishing, and Jack Johnson came on next. Chad goes, "Oh I love the Beatles!" Baha! (Definitely kidding this time. Not like our friend jawin)
7. Chad had a really good interview for a potentially really good job. (PS. to everyone not in the family: Cutco wasn't exactly what we were expecting. You may have already known that. I mention it to friends, and they say things like, "Yeah, they're jerks." Whoops. Now we know.) So we're waiting to hear back on this one. Really hoping for it.
8. We are now the happy owners of That Thing You Do. Thank you Chad's birthday!
9. Drumroll... My little brother is District Leader! Woohoo Alex! (He's in Hungary)
And... that's all I can think of right now, and it's bedtime. Later!

Birthdays!
2.08.2012
Chad and I are both a year old and a little wiser too, believe it or not. Happens that way sometimes.
Look what I came home to the Wednesday Emmett and I got back from Texas!
Basically the best homecoming ever, and the sweetest gifts ever. My Emmett picture is now sitting on my nightstand by my lamp :)
We had Papa Murphy's for dinner and the best German chocolate I've ever had. Ever. Chad baked it and it was amazing. We watched some of The Two Towers while we had cake and ice cream. It was a good birthday :)
And look what the birthday fairy left for Chad when he woke up on the 5th!
Emmett was a fan of the hearts. He did a lot of staring at the door on Chad's birthday. And that sweet fairy even wrote some cute little notes on the back of some of the hearts. She's so great.
And the cake... well... the cake was a bit of disaster. And when I say a bit, I mean more like it was an epic and total failure. It tasted great, but looked like someone had sort of walked on it.
Toldja.
We didn't let it cool long enough before we iced it, and the cake didn't like that. Imagine trying to ice a sand castle with super thick and heavy frosting. It was something like that.

I gave him To Draw Closer to God by President Eyring for his birthday. Lucky guy.
So, we had good birthdays. Thanks for your gifts and well-wishes! You guys are wonderful :)
Have a great Wednesday!
Mormon Messages
2.05.2012
So I've decided to take Sundays and use them to post about spiritually uplifting and inspiring things. This short video on temples is a really good one. It makes me realize all over again how blessed I am to live about ten minutes from the temple, and how blessed we all are to live in the US where easy physical access to temples is so universal. Watch this video, and re-realize just how good we've got it.
This one's great too. I love what Elder Lund says about receiving revelation.
And this article is from the January Ensign, so may have already seen it, but I really liked it. It's called Learning From the Expert.
Have a great Sunday everybody!
