Chad and I are both a year old and a little wiser too, believe it or not. Happens that way sometimes.
Look what I came home to the Wednesday Emmett and I got back from Texas!
Basically the best homecoming ever, and the sweetest gifts ever. My Emmett picture is now sitting on my nightstand by my lamp :)
We had Papa Murphy's for dinner and the best German chocolate I've ever had. Ever. Chad baked it and it was amazing. We watched some of The Two Towers while we had cake and ice cream. It was a good birthday :)
And look what the birthday fairy left for Chad when he woke up on the 5th!
Emmett was a fan of the hearts. He did a lot of staring at the door on Chad's birthday. And that sweet fairy even wrote some cute little notes on the back of some of the hearts. She's so great.
And the cake... well... the cake was a bit of disaster. And when I say a bit, I mean more like it was an epic and total failure. It tasted great, but looked like someone had sort of walked on it.
Toldja.
We didn't let it cool long enough before we iced it, and the cake didn't like that. Imagine trying to ice a sand castle with super thick and heavy frosting. It was something like that.

I gave him To Draw Closer to God by President Eyring for his birthday. Lucky guy.
So, we had good birthdays. Thanks for your gifts and well-wishes! You guys are wonderful :)
Have a great Wednesday!

yay for birthdays! happy birthday! and i've come to the conclusion that i can't bake. i try, but the last time i made a cake it wasn't pretty. it definitely wasn't like the martha stewart cake i was trying to recreate
ReplyDeleteThanks! haha, I feel you sister. Two things I learned from that disaster: let the cake cool more than I did; and if you're using bought frosting, zap it at 50% for like 40 seconds and stir it a couple times. Makes a WORLD of difference.
