I think our little piece of the neighborhood has more than its fair share of deluded freshman who think they'll hit it big with their own crappy band "musicians." The house across the street always seems to be belching some sort of torturous noise from abused drums and a dying dog at the microphone. Seriously, anyone who can unintentionally make Weezer songs sound worse than they already do... well, that speaks for itself I think.
Anyway. So Emmett and I went to the duck pond this morning to feed the ducks. There are already like a billion more ducks there than usual! Their numbers explode with snowbirds (haha) who go there to winter over (probably because they know they can get free meals from saps like us :) but it seemed like it happened a lot earlier this year. Anyway, I only came with two pieces of bread from an old loaf and met a hoard of very hungry, sort of crabby ducks. They kept biting each other and trying to chase each other off. That's what happens when you're living on top of your neighbors like that. Sort of like living in Provo.
So after I'd thrown about five pieces, there were probably thirty or forty ducks surrounding us on the boardwalk and another fortyish in the water. I was about 10% freaked out and 90% this is awesome! Obviously, the bread didn't go very far. I tried to give a few more pieces to the ducks who were consistently picked on (poor things), and I kept an eye on them when the bread ran out; I was half afraid they were going to jump up into the stroller in search of more food. But neither of us were assaulted, and it was a really fun thing to do with Emmett. He loved it.
And I've been good lately and ran two days in a row! Then I came home and had my fourth homemade cinnamon roll since about 12:30am. They're kind of irresistible that way. I started them way too late last night, but it was totally worth it :)
Have a great weekend!
